Clock No: 2038 SOLD

A 1942 Type II sector clock in good original
condition. These clocks replaced the Type I Elliott clocks in
1942. They had cases that were successively made of mahogany,
beech, oak and plywood, each poorer quality wood indicating the
worsening shortage of materials in Britain during WW2. This
particular clock has a beech surround stained in a mahogany colour.

The dial is the same size as a type I clock, fourteen
inches but the clock is slimmer due to the use of an Astral platform
escapement movement. The dial is un-restored. These dials
last better than Type I dials because they were tinned when new and
hence hardly rust.
