A four bladed propeller made by the Royal Airforce Factory in
excellent condition. The prop was made for the 200 HP Hispano Suiza
engine in the SE5A scout
aircraft.

The SE5A was a contender with the Sopwith Camel for the accolade of
the best British fighter of WW1 and also perhaps one of the best
fighters of the war. It was superior to the Albatros DIII, the DV, and
the Fokker Triplane; and was not outclassed by the Fokker DVII which
came into service in May 1918. It was the mount of many aces including
Mannock, Bishop and McCudden. Captain Beauchamp-Proctor
VC, a South African, scored the most victories with this aircraft.
The prop was in excellent structural condition when we bought it
although the original finish was poor. Very little restoration work has
been necessary but we have cut back into the original varnish and
re-polished.

It was made by the Whitehead Aircraft Co to a design of the
Royal Aircraft Factory and carries Whitehead decals on two blades.
