This Wolff propeller is constructed of two laminations of mahogany and seven
of pine and ash, which gives the well known striated effect.
The prop is in conserved condition. The original varnish has
been lightly cut back and a new layer of French polish added.

The prop was built for the 200 hp Benz engine that powered recce aircraft such as the Albatros C-VII, the DFW
and the LVG. It was also used on the G-IV Gotha bomber. In June
1917 fourteen of these bombers attacked London in daylight, the first
aircraft to do so, and caused more damage than all the Zeppelin raids to
that date.
