British Military Timepieces
by Dr Konrad Knirim

Stock No 2116

Dr Konrad Knirim came to fame when he produced his book on German Military Timepieces in 1998.   Konrad KnirimHis new book, British Military Timepieces describes all British Military Timepieces: the chronometers of the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, deck watches and chronographs of all three services, pocket watches and wrist watches.  It includes obscure timers from dark room clocks, radar camera watches, timers for PR cameras, and watches in camera guns.  British Military Timepieces contains 793 pages and describes over 1000 timepieces with excellent supporting photographs throughout.  It is bi-lingual with each page having two texts; English to the left and German to the right.

From an aviation point of view the description of aircraft clocks and aircrew watches from the RFC, the RNAS, the RAF and the FAA is superb.  The photograph below is of a Smiths Mk IIIa aircraft clock, with a Jaeger 330 cal movement that was fitted to the Handley Page Hampden bomber of 1939.  There are also sections on Japanese, Australian, US French and Canadian aircrew watches.  Smiths A/c clock
