We have two bells in stock (the magnificent 1936 bell in
the centre is now sold). The 1940 RAF bell to the left is of the
standard form for that year with the smaller of the two types of
engraved crest with crown. These bells were Station Bells, either
mounted outside the guardroom and painted red, or outside the Station
Headquarters.

They are much associated with Fighter Stations where they were
sometimes used as scramble bells. The bell comes without a
clanger. Most were sold off by the RAF separately from the bells.

This bell is made of a bell metal which is quite close to gun metal
in colour. It is in better condition than most and bears the
Foundry mark TW, which we have not yet identified. Bells dated
1940 are particularly valued for their association with the Battle of
Britain.
