Most of our props date from World War One and have a certain magic, if you know how to release it.  To start with they have a sculptural beauty; some have elegance.  The varnished wood has a sensual appeal.  You can touch where a World War One pilot once touched, where a WW1 mechanic once swung the prop before a sortie.  In this sense they become a momentary pathway through time, where you become close to the airman of 90 years ago.

"The Design and Manufacture of British Aircraft Propellers in WW1"
