An envelope addressed in Boelcke’s own hand to Fraulein Anna Boelcke, Brandenburg, Brelowerstrasse 7 / Feldpost.  Postmarked Frankfurt, Nov. 29, 1915.  Return name and address on verso in his hand as well.

Also a sepia tint photograph issued posthumously showing Oswald Boelcke in head and shoulders profile wearing his ‘Pour le Merité’ entitled Fliegerhauptmann Boelcke, lezte Aufnahme. (Liersch 7761).

Boelcke, with Max Immelmann, developed the German technique of air combat.  It was they who first discovered some of the crucial tenets of air fighting.  Both were killed in 1916.
